Hola people,
To all my friends. I’m so glad to share something really good that happened recently. I was having a meeting with my pastor regarding the project timeline and came barging in was a colleague of mine (working in church makes you meet ‘different’ kind of people). Anyways, he came in informing that Sidney worship leader of True Worshippers (for those who aren’t familiar with True Worshippers, click ‘here‘) is coming to town to minister the people of Singapore on behalf of Integrity Music Asia as the organizer and we have the privilege to be the host.
I was so excited… SIDNEY MOHEDE… is COMING… to BC!!! I’m so gonna scream like a girl if I were given a chance to but out of courtesy and respect in front of my pastor I held back my emotional commotion. In my mind, I said “pleasssssssssssse” say ‘YES’. It is my pastor’s decision to have him on board to minister the people and musicians and even worshippers. Plus, according to my pastor there was no such event taken place before so “why not” he say. I was hysterical and in my seat. *FIST*
Immediately, I got prepared everything that’s needed for the event. It’s a full worship encounter session so it has to be flawless and eventful with the right ones. I made a full-scale preparation and backups just in case if any of the equipment fails there will be a backup to support the flow of the program.
Soon THE week arrived and another colleague of mine told me that they’ll visit another church who is hosting Sidney as well and it’s in Bartley, Singapore days before my church would be the host. I thought of giving it shot and see to experience what’s going to happen. Since a friend of mine was the FOH engineer, I was glad to see him in action with Sidney. “It’s gotta be awesome” I told myself.
When Sidney hit the stage the first thing he asked was “can I have the lights on”, back in my mind the lighting people would be furious but it’s his one and only request for the show so take-it-easy-eh. And the next thing was the start of something big, he said “I want this worship to be just you and me worshipping God. It’s not me, but Him Jesus.” wow… nice one. Humble guy. And the very next sentence blown me away, he said “the definition of worship is that worship is our response to God’s presence” that line got a hold in my heart. It sets the atmosphere, the focus, the goal and the objective of every elements. Penetrating my agenda and across everything that hinders Him from being together with us. The idea of God’s omnipresence became tangible and aware. The bricks of deception that God’s finite ability is being torn down. From that moment, I couldn’t stop worshipping. No tears. Just in awe.
Then came, the center stage in my church. Sidney stood exactly where worship leader would stand. He said “let Jesus be the center”. My knees didn’t turned weak, my hands aren’t stiff, my heads ain’t heavy neither is my body shaking. But my world came tumbling down. My heart melted hearing those words. It sunk in like a knife slicing through a butter. Splitting what’s untrue and filled those gap with the vision that Sidney cast. “Jesus, the center of it all”.
There weren’t much words said by Sidney neither were there any fanciful speech made. It was just plain worship. It’s a choice. It’s a decision. Standing behind the machine didn’t stop me from worshipping. I made a point that whenever there’s an opportunity to stay connected with the flow, I will cease it. And when I did, it was like expectation-less worship so to speak. Non-stop worship with Sidney Mohede and the band.
Well like every good party, good things have to come to an end. I’m glad Sidney brought a lesson with a simple truth. I needed such reminder once in a while just to keep my engine running clean. Oh, DUMC did host him as well. It was really good. I saw it on YouTube. Link? Find it yourself
Be blessed and I would try to blog as often as I can get hold of it. Have a good week!
